I've notice with my manual transmission 2007 GT Eclipse, sometimes either in 1st or 2nd gear, the car will get a quick burst of acceleration and then once I get to about 40 mph it will taper off. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have a clue to what may cause this to happen?

how long have you had your car? could it be that your just not used to the MIVEC system yet? how far do you push the pedal down when it happens? do you keep constant pressure on the pedal when it happens?

I've had the car for roughly 3 months. This is the first Mitsubishi car that I have owned. I haven't owned many cars. My previous car was a '92 Toyota Celica and I noticed it a little with that car. I didn't know if it was inherit in manual transmission cars. I push the pedal probably about 1/2 way down and I keep constant pressure on it. It doesn't happen all of the time, but it seems to do it the majority of the time.

Thanks for the response.

if you dont see it in any of the other gears then it is probably the gearing of the car, the amount of torque the car has or both.
