I was wondering if there is a way to tell the year of this motor by the numbers on the block or maybe somewhere else? the company i bought this motor from claims it is from a 98 spyder gs ....however i find that hard to believe because of the fact mine has an electronic ignition vs. the other has a distributor..... any ideas?

there should be a vin plate on the engine block. 10th digit is year.

L=90 V=97
M=91 W=98
N=92 X =99
P=93 Y=00
R=94 1=01
S=95 2=02
T=96 3=03

and so on. going backwards i think you skip vowels and just count backwards.
