I was wondering if I could get some help. the other day I was at stoplight and all of a sudden my car engine stated to vibrate and rattle. When i tried to accelerate the car would not go past 20 mph. I pushed all the way down on the gas pedal and the car did not respond at all .Also the "service engine soon" light came on. When I drove it the next day everything was fine for awhile then it happened again. Any suggestions on what might be the problem. I would greatly appreciate any input.

are the RPMs still rising normally? if so it might be your clutch.
