A 4x4 diesel L300 would be my dream, but, apparently, only the petrol 2-wheel-drive L300's were sent to the United States.
I've got an '87 model, and live in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon here in the states, and would sure like to make her 4wd. I was thinking the necessary parts would be hard to get, but I recently read that the 4x4's used the same chassis as the late '80's Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero, which I could easily find in a junkyard... Wondering if anybody knows if this is true, and what would be entailed in converting my L300 to 4wd? (I don't HAVE any 4wd L300's to reference...so I don't know if the entire chassis would need to be swapped, or just the transmission and some drivetrain components?
Would REALLY appreciate some info/references/links/photos/advice, anything!
Also, what are the chances I could swap in the diesel motor when my gasser dies?
