i have a 98 montero. the tail lights wasnt working. i fixed it by replacing the brake switch under the dash. and now i just noticed that when i step on the brakes my left turn blinker(front) lights up as if it was a brake light. on top of that my left signal doesnt work, while the right is fine. also the hazards either didnt work or worked very very slowly i cant remember correctly. has anyone ever had this problem? if so know the fix? i'm guessing its a short on the wiring somewhere.

seen this before
first check that switch you put in . check the old switch as well with a multimetre to see if that was realy the fault.
now you may say that sounds silly but beleive me here when i tell you this bit .
not all replacement globes for indicators , brake and tail lights are created equally.
thats right .this fault happens very rearly but the fix in most cases are simple .
so lets try the cheapest option first.
try replacing all the brake tail and indicator globes thats right the whole lot in one go .
reason behind this is that if any of the bulbs have a manufacturing fault in the construction this will play havoc and cause this problem.
have you ever changed a blown bulb on it yet if you are not the first owner of this pajero you cant really know.
i have now seen this fault several times on several different vehicals .
is sounds to easy to be true but it dose and can happen.

tripple diamond :)

Sounds like an incorrectly fitted or wrong bulb in the tail lamp. Check on the rear of the bulb holder, it will tell you which bulb to fit (21w, 21/5w etc).
