Hello all,
I owned an Airtrek Turbo (2003) for about 5 years already. So far problem free. Just need regular oil changes, ATF changes, tyres etc. The car is JDM spec,. meaning max speed is limited to 180 km/h. Recently I removed the speed cut, by reprogramming the ECU. The car can go beyond 180 km/h. But the speedometer only indicated max about 190 km/h. Is there any speedometer (European version) with the scale of 250 km/h or round about that? It quite frustrating bcos I dont know the speed I am travelling at beyond 180 km/h. If anyone could get me a speedometer and please quote me the price. Thanks.

Hi.

Partial info:
Yes, the Outlander Turbo sold in Europe does have speedometer scaled up to 240 km/h. Don't know the part number. But I don't know, if your JDM Airtrek can deliver speed signal which is able to raise up the pointer to value compatible with European speedometer. Just know that the speedo sensor is reading rotational speed at transmission. Probably JDM Airtrek and EU Outlander use the same sensor and if the sensor is delivering speed signal linear (i guess yes), it could work for you.

You can find some members on this forum, which have access to the CAPS database of mitsu parts. They can check the part number and even the price after asking some mitsu dealer.

Hello Kemo, thanks very much. I am waiting some more feedbacks from all experts here. Normally, if the model is assembled or produced in the same year, from the same factory (Mitsubishi, Japan), the maker will source parts from the same bins. What differentiate them are the versions, for european, for carribean, for asia or for JDM. Assuming all are equal, they just install a different ECU for different market. That what I think. Otherwise I have to use aftermarket speedmeter for examples Pivot Speedmeter, Apexi RSM or something else that is able to indicate speed beyong 180 km. But It won't look stock.

the Outladern Turbo has manual gearbox... and the Airtrek is automatic, it can be a problem when you want to change the speedometer !
