I own a 2000 Eclipse GT and am having problems curing my random misfire. ive put new head gaskets in b/c of bent exhaust valves" careful how you put ur belts on boys or itll cost you a fortune.", new fuel pump, new plugs and wires, new thermostat and timing belt. I cant see any problems with my O2 sensors, but have a true cold air intake not a short ram. my MAF appears to be mint , its not dirty and i clean my filter regularly. Is there anyone out there who has any other ideas or tips for me because its hard to pinpoint a random misfire and its frankly driving me nuts. one day its runs good and the next day its got an erradic idle and no torque at low rpm's.

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.

After you replaced those parts did you reset your computer? (disconnect battery for 30 mins).

Also, power train control module may need a software update causing a high speed random misfire.

ive cleared codes, ive gone to mitsubishi for the reflash and still no change. it idles better when maf sensors unplugged but runs worse( no maf ). i got a used maf to swap out to test and there was no change. i have tested my spark and at idle it is very weak, but my parts guy says to check out the forums before getting a new coil distributor. do you have any other suggestions or questions i can answer.

Try changing your plugs and wires. then move further past the wires and keep moving back.
