Me and my friend were driving along a gravel road a few hours ago, i was getting bit too cocky and took a corner a bit fast and started sliding... and being an **** decided the brakes would save me :P they didn't... i spun out and mouthed off while trying to avoid a fence and trees. I got out of it with just a scratch and small dint under my door not very noticable. But i consider myself very lucky and i've decided i don't like gravel.. It's scared me a bit so i think i'll be extra careful while driving for a while =(

Do you have AWD? If so, sliding in gravel sounds like a party :460: ... Except for all the damage the gravel is going to do...

nope fwd. It was fun at first until i lost control. I'm not used to the fwd so i was over correcting which caused me to lose it, my little lancer really loves sliding around lol.

I had a similar experience on gravel, but I had a good 25 foot drop into trees and rocks and a creek to land in.

Good to hear your ok!

ever hear of road-boarding?
its where you take the trucks off your skate board and hold onto the spoiler of a car while they snow drift down streets.
its super fun.. till when another guy thats holding onto the same car falls ontop of you and slides while ontop of you into the street curb, after the driver looses control and spins out.
ouch.
lol. just thought id tell you what happend today cause your story remined me of it.

hahah, that does sound fun, and rather scary.
and emc u poor thing, i'm so lucky i didnt hit the trees, haven't got enough money to repair a screwed up car.. hah it reminded me of another topic in the forum somewhere, i asked advice for what to do when you lose control of ur car, and someone said i doubt you'd be thinking of something some guy said on a forum.. I must say that actually went through my mind, it went something like this.. "****!".."crap, tree"..."hope my parents dont find out"... *car's sliding sideways* "shoulda remembered what that forum said".

hehe that's the honest truth of my thoughts.

Oh and here's a pic of the damage done, nothing too bad, enough to piss me off though.

my worst driving experience would be when i was going down a hill loaded and the road was icy/snow.my truck could not stop had the brakes held hard and still kept rolling down not to mention that it was curvy till i ran off the road with the trailer and almost hit some trees then the fun part of getting the truck unstuck from the snow.

Well technically my first bad and worst ever driving experience, was when I put my car into a tree at 120.

Proof that when you are moving that fast in a front wheel drive car and turning, you do not let off the gas...

Road with 1 and a half - two foot ditches on both sides

I came around the turn it was a long sweeper going left. I let off a little and the weight transfered to the front and the rear lifted and started to float to the right. I hit the gas but it was to late. I slid into the tree while correcting, I just nicked the headlight but it spun the car and I basically used the tree to start my spin.

I then launched backwards spinning through the air over the road... Yes over the road, into the field across the street, did four complete dohnuts and then came to a stop.

To recap I was driving on the right side of the road in a sweeper to the left, rear floated right crossed the road into ditch sideways, used a tree as a pivot point jumped out the ditch spinning backwards, Flew back over across the road landed 25 feet from the road in the field back on the right side of the road spun around four times 37 more feet stop.

I shut off the car that is not running. using my right hand I fumble for my phone, I can't find it, I keep fumbling with my right hand and I am smacking the dome lights with my left, **** I can't find it.

"Name" "NAME" "NAME!!!!!!" Punch my best friend, nothing, hit him again calling his name, he starts to convulse. So now I know I have to get him to the hospital.

I don't remember the next chain of event. I undid my seatbelt, opened my door ran around the car opened his door undid his seat belt and picked him up and then I tripped in the ditch and dropped him on the road.

I remember from here on. He becomes coherent.

"Dude,??? what just happened?" Him
"Crashed the car man I have to get you to a hospital." I am still dragging him by his arm half carrying him up the street.

"No dude lets just go home"

"Cant man the car is totaled"

"f dude, how come?" he says

"c'mon man." He breaks away now.

"I'm going home man Im just gonna walk home' (keep in mind I am covered in his blood.

"No come with me man" he stops looks at me then around then at me,
"OK" so I cut across these peoples yard and I am about to walk through their landscaping to get to their front door. And he stops dead.

"dude walk around man," (keep in mind he is stuttering eyes half open I just hit a tree totaled a car and he is bleeding from the head. regardless I walk around I get to the door and I guess I was knocking to loud for him because then hes like, "ERIC!!!! Dude its freaking late man why are you knocking so fing loud, YOu dont have to be sooo rude man!"

The door opens blah blah i crashed I need to call 911 the lady is a RN. She gets some towel and puts it on his head and we get him to start sitting down so I start to back up and I guess all of sudden it clicked with him that we crashed, because he jumps up, "I'm going to FING kill you !!!

the lady, "No your not its ok your gonna be fine"

"I know I know I just enjoy saying it." he says.

anyway the cops come the ambulance

we go to the ER I'm fine I am discharged immedatly he needs staples.

DOC: so uhh you need staples"

Him, " Ok how many?"

Doc"8"

Him" ok"

SO any way he gets 1, 2,3,4,5, uh oh i have to take that last one out so 5, 6,7,,.....8.9 10 11 12 rapid fire !!!!

Doc; all done"

"WTF" him

Yeah don't mess with speed.

Haha, damn that must have sucked. Makes me feel a bit better about my accident hehe. A good story though, lucky you both got out of it alive. yeah my mistake was not only taking my foot off the gas but braking, and hard. Gotta remember that for next time :P

Braking in a slide usually leads to over steer. Found that one out messing around in parking lot :D
