There is a Mustang somewhere on line that has an engine out of a tank, I forget how many cylinders it was, but it was huge.

i think v8 are fading away slowly most smaller engines can get big amounts of power and are less expensive.imho.this coversation and or arguement will never end too many points of view as too what is better.

its like argueing which truck is better, a tacoma or an F150. two completly different opinions and two completely different trucks. same with the 4cyl and the V8. i've got a 4cyl that i'd put up against a few V8's but i'd still love a V8 for myself! its just to big of a topic to try to compair. apples and oranges man, apples and oranges.

One thing to consider is the rest of the drivetrain on most V8 cars is usually much stronger than the parts typically use on a 4 cylinder car. You might be able to build a 4 cylinder to put out as much power as a V8 for close to the same amount of money, but then you have to beef up the transmissions (same with a V8 but usually a lot cheaper), axles and diffs etc, and you have a high strung tempermental 4 cylinder engine, that needs more maintenance, and more frequent rebuilds. I think really the only advantage to the 4 cylinder is gas mileage.

yes but then they would also have to delete turbo's , they have just as much affect (if not more) than a v8 on the environment..., anyways GM (just one of the many manufacturers heading this way) are removing petrol engines from there range , its all hybrid /bio diesel/ethanol yadda yadda..... apparantly there will be a few performance versions but it will all be along the same lines... :crying:

yeah thats true one thing i love about them its good power gaings with cheap mods but most v8 are outrageous in price.unless you buy a used or lod one,but now its not the case most are getting better and better at this on the small cars.we all going to be flying cars soon next and will be discussing about whats better.

The Honda won in Fast and Furious 1 :)
And I like this topic it's cool :)

Now as far as this subject I like the V8's but they cost too much when wide open and they cost too much on the market too!

The big ol V8's come in big ol cars too!
Not too many small size cars with V8's that I know of unless you find a Pinto or Corviar modded :)

I like the 4 bangers to a point, off the line non turbo sucks 4's but once in the power band say from about mid on up to just before it runs out of breath it's sweet.

I envy guys with turbo's had a GS-T walk away from me so I'm planning to either make this car I have now fast or just start save'n up for my next new ride so I can keep up with the big boys some day.

Oh yea and to that guy who put down the Dusters I'd watch it on that one there are plenty of V6 Dusters out there that can had your hat to ya any day of the week!

In fact the 420a can trace it's roots right back the Dodge V6's of old.

Sorry guys I'm sort of a Dodge Plymouth man and those baby back cars of those days give me goose bumps!

keep your GS and get a cheap GST like me. i only payed 1900 for mine. and when its tip top shape i'll lose the 3000gt. just a thought. but i like my 4cyl turbo way more than the v6 i have in the 3kgt. and it gets the same on gas but is way faster. they don't weight that much and one with a turbo can put out as much as a V8. but, again, i'd love a V8. the way they sound, their power. only down fall is gas.
