Hi all, first post here, hoping I'm in the right spot.

Wondering if anyone has added extra speakers to the 2003 GLX Triton. I have the two dash-mounteds and the front and rear door fabs have the shrouds ready to go for extras but pulled out half the dash to see if it could be done before giving up. If anyone knows if it's possible (and a difficulty rating) I'll give it a go. If you have any tips it'd be appreciated

Cheers

I have a 1999 L200 GL doublecab. I have put a 2-way Kenwood Composystem in the front doors. The tweeters are as high as possible above the window-lever.
(IMG:http://images.kenwood.eu/files/images/products/product_id_97/category_8/original/KFC-PS1300P.jpg)
In the rear doors simple 17 cm full range speakers. Also Kenwood.
The sound quality is pretty good, exept for ultra low bass. Unfortunally there is no place for a subwoofer........
The original speakers in the dash are poor quality, so i connected them to the GPS (Blaupunkt DX-V).

more speakers might not be what you want

more speakers does not mean it will sound
better or louder
more speakers just means more things you
have to get in 100% sync and adjust to each
other

so what you want might be ‘better’ speakers
and an appropriate amplifier
even in the original mounts you can make
quite a huge difference with the appropriate
speakers

something decent might start at about $100
a pair, just a rough number, try to listen to
them yourself at some dealer
speakers alone might already help you, if
you start with fitting an extra amplifier
you will have some real work ahead

regarding the sub woofer question, you can
try one or two a ‘body shaker’ or ‘bass pump’,
mounted to the floor plate under the seats

opposed to the normal ‘living room’ setup
a car floor plate is a somehow flexible object
of quite some size, so it will not only ‘shake’
but even emit real sound

it might help you to get some real low bass
without investing much space
at least I had some nice results in my cars

good luck

C.
