I have a 01 4 cyl. Galant that has cracked two radiators. The 2nd one was bought from a salvage yard a month ago. I assume it's building pressure but there's no oil in water or water in oil. Also no smoke or steam runs perfect. Also no overheating at all. anyone ever ran into this with a galant?

I just replace my 1st, *hopefully last*, about 1 month ago the crack was on the top portion of radiator. Were both your in identical locations?

costadragon thanx for your reply. Both of these radiators are cracked in the identical spot. They both have a 4 inch crack to the immediate right of the radiator cap on the front/grille side of the radiator. I bought the 2nd radiator from a salvage yard and I also noticed some "stress" marks on the used radiator before I put it on. But since I was stuck with the radiator anyway I went ahead and installed it. Where was your crack located?

Welcome to the club. I just got the same crack in the same plase. And according to my local radiator shop, every radiator with the plactic tank in all Mitsubitsi will crack in the same spot.

stoni - crack to left side of cap, if facing the front of car. I replaced with aftermarket one. Just some leakage issues but that's expected of aftermarket.

Digi- Good to know,Sux though that Mitsu would let something like this go.. Wonders if there's a recall??

I just bought my '00 Galant used with 90,000 miles on it. Noticed the second day I had it, that there was a crack about 4 inches right (if facing engine) of the cap on top. I kept fluid in it, even though it was leaking everywhere until I could take it to get the radiator replaced this morning. They told me that was the original part, so I'm hoping this "new" radiator will give me another 90,000 miles before it cracks. Yikes! Not what I was expecting to replace so early on in my ownership (it's only 4 days old to me). Other than that....I love it so far.

I have the same problem with my 01 Galant. Was there a recall on this issue?
