When I accelerate hard in the upper portion of the revs (> 3500) the engine noise changes. It sounds a little like there is a rattle in the engine somewhere (it is perfectly in sink with the engine rpm). The sound is not affected in anyway by if the engine is warm or not. The sound is quieter than the general engine sound but still easily audible. The sound occurs in all gears at about the same revs and only seems to happen when the accelerator is down at least half way.

Other than that the engine sounds very quiet and normal and has no obvious other problems.

I was wondering, is this sound anything to worry about and if anyone can give any clues to what it may be.

The only other problem engine wise I can think of with the car is that the fuel consumption seems pretty high for a GDI engine. Typically I am getting around 7 miles to the litre or 32 MPG (UK gallon)

I had something similar to your problem. There was a sort of rattle coming from the car motor.

I don't know how true this is, but i was told that it is something in the exhaust manifold or something from that sort, but i never bothered to fix it.

All i know is that it doesn't effect the running of the motor, but if u find out how to fix it please let me know!
