Hi Guys

I am new to this forum. I recently bought Mitsubishi lancer ES 2008.
Trying to find some info on audio system which came with the car. Does anyone have the workshop manual for 2008 lancer audio system, where i can get electrical diagrams... for the audio..

Thinking of fitting a subwoofer. Any ideas....

Thanks in advance
Tama

Kicker is crap... especially the square ones, I think the newest is the L7.

JBL isn't bad, but I think there is better for less price.

BTW phil, what do you think of the new(ish) Boston subs. The oval ones and the lightweight ones?

I heard the oval ones for the first time yesterday, they weren't anything special. And for some reason I just can't feel the power without the magnet being nice and heavy.

You're talking about thier "egg" subwoofer? yea ive heard mixed reviews. but to me the best way to reproduce a sound signal is with a circle. not an oval or square.
Its pretty much impossible to compare the specs of different shaped subs since the shape changes alot of what is produced. like identical t/s parameters but different cone shape= they wont sound the same. i guess they would get loud just because of the large amount of surface area. i just cant see the SQ of anything other than a circle being that good.
but i cant say they arent good since i have no proof.
i like Boston as a company but they have the ability to make sooo much better.

just like sony. sony's HT stuff is top of the line, but then when it comes to car audio the just plain suck. they have the ability to make the best sub out if they wanted to but they dont for the money. i hate that.

yes on the alpine amps. i believe they are cea 2006 rated so they have to do thier rated power. as for pioneer subs meh... they are ok starter subs i guess.
whats your budguet? how much space do you have?

Alpine amps are good if you like overpaying for low power, much like mtx. Although they are good, you just gotta pay WAAAAY too much.

bench tested 2 alpine amps. both did at or above thier ratings. they were both higher end alpine and yes they do cost more. they are just one option to many. you can proboably do better for the price but well you can always do better than any product for the price. i do agree about mtx though. if you have to make something like The Jackhammer to get attention thats pretty sad.

Im willing to bet that the sub im running in my 08 ES will pound harder than all of the subs mention'd above..It's called the TRF2212...one of theses subs will pound harder than 2 12" JL W7...this sub is a monster weighing at 75 LBS (400OZ)..and 4000W peak and 2000W RMS is simply insane..

If you want deep long hold notes go with sound stream. Its proven itself to take the worst treatment and keep going. If you want fast and very responsive bass go with Phoenix Gold. Ive had both subs and they are in equal fields. Also my best friend was Northwest best installer 5 years running and has been in the install business for over 10 yrs. Hes the one that directed me to these two great companies.

do you have pics of this. i would like to know how you fit a big enough box for that sub in your "08 es"
well thats nice, but there are other combonations that will cost less, be louder, sound better, and operate on less wattage than you "team rf sub"
soundstream. heh. oh and to the comparisons to the W7s. the w7 would blow that 75lbs pos out of the water in the sq department. i would never pay that much to have a w7 but it would own that rf in sq

look into some companies that aren't so commercialized. like when you buy JL or Rf you're paying for the name brand as well.
companies like
Audioque
Digital Designs
Soundsplinter
Audiopulse
they all arent as popular as JL or companies like that and still make great products. You will pay less for an awesome product since you arent paying for the name.
anything that can be bought at best buy, curcuit sity, radio shack, etc. =probably crap

Yeah, the reason that thing has such a high power rating is because it needs it to move that stupid magnet. 75lbs is WAAAAAAY too much. You can get a blaupunkt that'll do 2000RMS and it only weighs about 40lbs. Not like blaupunkt is the greatest sub. But alot better than the specs of that thing.

Ill go with JL any day over that junker.

FYI i acutally got a really good deal on this sub...i was originally gonna get a RF T2 for $550 but in stead got this one for $500..this sub stopped production because it was too exspensive to buy over the counter..it retailed in for $1200 when it first came out..they only made 100 to 150 of them..soo say what you want..i just ordered my 3000W/1500RMS top of the line Clarion mono amp for half the price (DXP11500) $300...i kno a good friend at clarion...im also running 0 gauge and an extra battery..the magnet is soo heavy it neeeds extra support inside the box to secure the sub..i'll post more pix up..
