We've only owned the thing for 2 weeks, 140k, looks great, drives ok EXCEPT...
- the brakes. When we bought it I mentioned to the dealership that the brakes weren't right. Way too much pedal force to stop it. They told me their policy is to replace rotors/pads when - 1) Rotors are at or < min. thk, or 2) pads are < 50%. Neither of those were true (according to them). However, it takes a TON of pedal force to stop this thing. Compared to the previous '95 LS we had I'd say it's about 2x. I wouldn't be surprised to find out if a caliper's siezed or something like that - I'm not sure what possibilites there are. Are there any tell-tale signs, or straightforward checks I can do?
The other issue (for now) - the heater. It was very cold today - granted - but it takes a minimum of 15 minutes for the interior to BEGIN to get comfortable. Again, comparing it to the '95 - in the same amount of time the old truck would have a person sweating. The '99 isn't even close to where it should be. Temp gauge looks fine (1/3 up the scale), blower motor moves a ton of air, fresh/recirc. not much diff. What could be the problem?
Thx for any help.
