Hi which oil is recommended in the UK for W reg Carisma 1.8 GDI?

Also is the standard fully synthetic Mobil 1 as used by kwik fit OK? (I think it is 0W40).

Thanks in advance,
John

standard oil used from factory is semi-sythetic 10w/40 although due to large carboning problems(as have been posted here MANY times)you may wish to go to fully synthetic as that is a dealer recommendation to aid in slowing carbon build up.0w40 may be too think as even the fully synthetic being used is only 5w/40 or 5w 30.you woners manual will list all the recommended grades of oils depending on your climate and average temp.hope this helps

Baring in mind that synthetics behave quite differently to mineral oils, I was of the opinion that the Mobil 1 0W-40 was fine to use in the carisma. The 0W rating is just for resistance to cranking in winter (and also the speed of lubrication during the initial warm up) so the lower the better really and the 40 rating applies to the viscosity of the oil once warm.
