Guys, i have almost 200,000 km. The engine is blowing some smoke and been told the valve seals need replacing. The car has been running on LPG for almost 10 yrs. The idea of an engine swap has crossed my mind. Something wth more power. I havent heard of an engine swap in a triton, but what would fit and how difficult is a job like this to do?

not that this is of much help but there was an 88 triton on youtube with a Gen 3 V8 in it.

so it is possible but you'd have to hack at the engine bay im guessing

Mate just on closing stages of finishing V6 Commodore transplant into 1989 diesel Triton, very little or very few headaches and I have fitted V6,Auto, dash and complete wiring harness out of VN commodore.
I had to make up eng mtg plates, mod rear g/box mount a different flange onto tailshaft front to take Holden yoke a couple of small cuts in the floor and thats itAttached ImageAttached ImageAttached ImageAttached Image[a

Hi all,
I have a MJ Triton petrol fuel 1996 I think. It dropped a balance shaft bearing on the way back from Townsville, so now i am waiting for a new motor which seems rare or a motor rebuild. Any one have experience with this problem?

Hi again, I bought a 92 Magna EFI with the view to using the engine in the triton, big mistake, thet motor wont fit, However I now have a problem or list of problems with the Magna. So far I have replaced the ECU, plugs, and plug leads. The motor just died one day, and the Auto Electrician said the ECU was defunct, so I had that replaced. It ran well for a few days, now there is a definite miss in the motor, It was idling very rough, but seems better now that I have replaced the plugs and leads. It also shunts or grabs in the transmission when sitting at the lights. Any thoughts from the experts, Im certainly not one. :  liebe011:

Would the engine out of a 3000GT fit considering it has the same block, a 6g72?? I like the sound of a twin turbo 300hp triton!!!!!!!

The 6G7 series V6 is used in rear and FWD applications for many years. We have turboed Pajero's with the 3.0 6G72 MIVEC and 3.5 6G74 MIVEC and non MIVEC , the engine block and heads on all Pajero's using DOCH heads are the same as GTO's . The differance is yull need the water passage pipes for a V6 Pickup SOCH or DOCH heads it wont matter but it has to be for the Pickup or Pajero . The water outlet piping for the FWD 6G7 series is in teh back of the engine which would run into the firewall area . The water pump outlet pipe and thermostat piping on P/U and Pajero V6 run along the lower intake plenum and up from the water pump rear to the to of the timing cover , as for the FWD V6 it runs to teh rear of the engine. Here is another thing , The valvetrain head layout is important. If its a SOCH 12valver with distributor wiring isnt complicated and the harness. if yu are using a DOCH 24 valve engine it will most likely have Distributorless Ignition System , just the same as all Pajero's have and the cam /crank angle sensor will fit perfectlly with enough room in the back of teh cylinder head to the firewall . But if using a 24valve SOCH Magna /Diamante engine 3.0 or 3.5 that is using a distributor , the distributor is to large and wont have enough room to fit near the firewall , so a swap to a DIS unit and wiring harness and ignition coil/ecu/cignition module etc will be nedded . You wont be able to move the engine far enough in the bay to get the distributor to fit. Alot of teh other things are pretty easy , excepy for certain mounting brackets as the powersteering which may need to be mounted higher using a P/U or Pajero bracket and P/S lines.
