I shouldn't think the problem is fuel related - maybe more coincidence than anything. If the problem is worse at cold start up, or under load after idling (e.g sitting at traffic lights then driving away) it sounds more like worn valve stem seals. One way to test is to drive vehicle normally for about 10 minutes or so, then before switching engine off, in neutral, rev the engine quite high a few times for a few seconds and see how much blue smoke emits from the exhaust. If it is quite alot and has the typical smell of burning oil then it's more than likely the seals mentioned. Not an easy job to do yourself. You will need an overhead valve spring compressor to do this. Cheers
