Hello all, nice to join the forum; glad to see it has so many helpful contributors.

I've recently bought a 2001 Carisma 1.8 GDI Equippe. I am happy with the car and have a few questions.

1) The car has a problem similar to that of Afox1985's. To pull off from a standstill, you need a lot of revs; otherwise the car judders and is unresponsive until the revs get higher, at which point it jumps forward. Afox1985 found the problem to be caused by a split in the air pipe from the filter to the engine. I want to check this pipe out for myself, but where is it located?

2) I want to do an oil change - how much oil do I need?

3) What is the size of the sump drain plug?

4) Is there a workshop manual available for this model? I can't find details of one on this forum, and I definitely know that Haynes do not do one. There are CD Carisma manuals versions available on Ebay, but all of these cover models up to year 2000 only.

5) What do the code numbers, such as F8QT, in the posts about workshop manuals refer to?

Thanks.

the f8q is the engine code which refers to the 1.9td engine.you can find yours on the silver plate located under the bonnet on the cross bar in front of the radiator or the bullhead.your numbers may be something like 4g63 etc
your drain plug should be a 17mm
the amount of oil will depend on your engine code but generally you will need about 4-4.5 liters(the diesel takes 4.8)also you engine takes semi-synthetic 10w40
there is not a lot of difference between the models in regards to the hanes manuals.the 2000 book should be fine for most of the work you may do.
if it is a split pipe from the air filter box to the engine, you should be able to just follow the large intake pipe from your air filter.the smaller pipe should tee off of this.if in doubt then check the lot over the engine as there are not very many.you should here a split pipe as it will be sucking air in(while running of course)
also is your car manual or auto transmission as your complaint can be variable depending on which you have

hope this helps
