I own a 90 Dodge Colt 100LX (5 Speed 1.6L SOHC TBI), 112 000 km.

My car starts reving up without givin it gas. While driving, In neutral idling @1000RPM and it'l jump to 3000 or 4000 or even higher if i dont shut car off early enough. I used to be able to tap the gas or even change gears and the revving would correct itself. I've noticed that before the reving problem starts my car drastically hesitates when i giver gas. (lacks power almost like it's gonna stall/ it boggs a bit like there's some sort of clog), before it starts accelerating. soon after that it starts reving crazy. After shutting the car off my car wont even start for about 10 minutes. i giver a lot of gas when it turns over or it'l stall/choke out. about 5 seconds after the choking is gone and car works perfectly fine again.

Thank you for your time,
90100LX

+1

Followed ko_danny84's advice on surging idle on my 93 Colt. Simple cleaning of the TB and what I think is the ISC worked great.

This might help:http://www.4x4wire.com/mitsubishi/tech/throttle_body/

The model is different and I never did identify an ISC that matches the one in the diagram - other than that the throttle bodies are the same. Be careful when cleaning them as there are rubber and nylon gears, gaskets etc, that will be damaged by many automotive cleaners.

Thanks guys,
It was an intermitent electrical issue with the ISCM. I had a short from corrosion. Dirty or Clean, a sticking TB wont cause irratic revs without hittin the throttle. i wish it was that simple.
