Drives: 1918 pajero super wagon

Can anyone help,

I have an 89 pajero 3ltr superwagon. My main issue is when the enging is hot and idlelling the revs are very unsettled ranging from 500 to 12rpms and is very lumpy. It has never stalled. I t tends to miss on secon gear.

I have had many servicse that fails to recognise the problem and rectify the problem.

Does anyone have this problem or offer any advice.

I would like to know what the problem is so that i can point a mechanic in the right direction and get the problem fixed without being ripped off.

I have a 99 pajero io with the same problem. I just took it to a mitsubishi dealership service centre last week, they have no idea what it is. They say my transmission is fine and they put in a new fuel pump but it hasn't fixed the problem. Now they are trying to sting me for some insanely priced switches, just in case that is the problem.
