Hi not sure if this is of much help, but even when the glow lamp light goes off do you wait for the click noise, it should start no problem after this click. it takes about 3-5 seconds. I have the 2007 model and used to try and start it just after lamp light went off, it was hard to start this way and alot of smoke. I am used of deisel engines and I always waited for the click noise, but for some reason it takes a bit longer on the l200.

Have trouble starting my Triton in the morning
The glow plug indicator on my 2006 Triton does not go out at all.
Coud this be because they need replacing.

Where abouts are the glow plugs situated so I can check

I have a 2007 L200 sportero same as trion just branded differently for Trinidad. I have the 2.5 cc engine turbo intercooled. I had a hard start on mornings and a puff of white smoke comes out when the engine starts. Once engine is warm is starts easily. Mentioned this at my first service and the problem was not fixed.

My friend told me that he heard of my problem and it was bad diesel, maybe water in it... I ran the fuel tank till the light came on then filled at a newly built gas station and the problem went away. I filled up again at the older gas station and the problem came back.

So my advice is to use an injector treatment and run the fuel tank low then try filling from another gas station.

Never had the problem since... i always fill at new gas stations in Trinidad now.

Hi a few faults on the uk spec L200s presuming urs is a diesel ( 2.5 )
1 check if engine lights on or off when bad starting I've had plenty of the engine control relays having water in them this stops engine starting tell tale sign is the engine lamp doesnt illuminate
2 the diesel pump itself faulty (timing position sensor in the pump) unfortunatly this can only be determined using mitsi diagnostic equipment, but this fault would show when warm also!!
3 the glow plugs may not be suitable for this countries climate depending on where vehicle has been imported from
It is best to see whether its fuel starvation or a lack of glow thats at fault.

Ilso have a problem in the starting , but not when cold .
The problems appear only after the car is hot and , stopped for half an hour or more.
It crank many times before starting.

As for the Cra cra I think is very normal on this engines.
