For the engine to be efficient you need to have a good intake and exhaust system... have you checked your intake throttle make sure it's clean and do you change car oil regularly? try replacing air filter

what everyone said is all great advice, however, unless your new to driving cars i suspect you have already done a tune up. if so then i would check your throttle body. Mitsubishi's every so often has a few throttle bodies that seem to fall apart at the low temperature engine idle choke. it recirculates some of your exhaust to warm up your engine faster. as soon as it reaches a certain degree the spring is heated and expands turning the tiny flange closing off this exhaust circuit.

it uses a single retaining screw that if never checked may sometimes vibrate and fall out eventually. causing a rather significant air leak in your intake making your MAS read less air flow in turn making your air fuel mixture way off and causing a huge difference in fuel economy. the very same thing had happened to me and my car was getting a lousy 15 miles per gallon around town and only 19 freeway on a 2.4L 4 banger. very very very sh!tty for a 4 cylinder.

now that i have fixed this problem i get around 22 miles per gallon in town and 27 on freeway. making a huge difference in my wallet size from the 5 months i drove it with that lousy screw missing. i just thought because it had over 200,000 miles on it that the engine just sucked a$$, and was about to die.

anyways i hope that this helps you. if it doesn't oh well at least you now know something new to look out for just in case.

Hey mate just wondering how are you driving it??? i have found with my v6 magna if i thrash it i guzzle the fuel best thing to do is refill once n baby it see how it goes then if its still guzzling the fuel transfer it to gas. probably the best way for you to save money and in Australia a gas conversion is about $2000 give or take.
