I think this is a huge leap I just may wind right back up inside the Mitsu dealer after all if they decide it's a go. :P

They hafta go with it because they gotta stay in step with the grill and other changes like the Lancer besides the eclipse is still not selling like hotcakes like it used to do.

They had better stuff some snails under the hood or else retire the ecilpse it's the only way to keep it on the market :(

It won't happen. Mitsu has changed their target market with no intent of going back.

that sucks. since when did sports cars start advertising to old people? i think if they came out with that model with a turbo v8 and made it fairly priced some of the more exotic cars would have their hands full.

i'd be very interested at least.......

I think your wrong Dude...

"Forty-seven days and counting, and we can?t get enough news about the upcoming Detroit auto show. Today, Mitsubishi revealed two sketches ? the second is below ? of the Concept-RA it will debut at Cobo Hall in Detroit.
We?re not exactly sure why Mitsubishi is revealing a new coupe concept, but perhaps it is a precursor to the next Eclipse. The Concept-RA will feature a clean-diesel engine along with the all-wheel-drive drivetrain and dual clutch transmission from the new Mitsubishi Evo. A few years after its release, we?re still not sold on the Eclipse?s looks. What do you think? Already time for a change?"

Oh and sorry for not posting with the original quote but I just had to get these awsome pics up ASAP! :blush-anim-cl:

Yep she's already built guys so get out there and start pushing those buggies and pick up those empty pop bottles cuz I think this one's gonna cost a weeee bit more than the others have in the past. :(

"In November, Mitsubishi released sketches of its Concept-RA ahead of the car's debut at the Detroit auto show. Now, a single image of the actual car has surfaced online. The car is believed to be an indicator of the design direction for the next-generation Eclipse coupe.
Reminiscent of Mitsubishi's Eclipse models, the Concept-RA uses light-weight body panels ? including an aluminum space frame ? and all-wheel drive.
Power for the Concept-RA comes from a turbocharged 2.2L clean diesel ? with MIVEC continuously variable valve timing control ? rated at 200 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Unlike other clean diesels, Mitsubishi's system doesn't require the injection of Urea to meet strict U.S. emission standards.
That power is put to the ground through the same Twin Clutch SST transmission found in the Lancer Evolution X. The Concept-RA is also packed with several other technologies, such as Active Steering and Active Damping control to aid in the car's handling."

Orly? So why didn't mitsu offer the 3g or even 4g in a turbo version? Throw the same motor as the Evo in a 3g hell even a 4g and it would have sold to the younger crowd like hot cakes.

I think you were right about the market target but wrong the fact that it's in the works to be built....And who's Orly????

On a side note: You know the moter would have been a shot to Mitsu's foot to put the same in the Eclipse besides one of the builders up there in Normal told me that the insurance industry had been threating potental customers pockets about those turbo motors and it slowed sales. ;)

2 door = High Insurance.
4 door = Low Insurance.
;)

I stand corrected but if it came out as a two door can you imagine the cost?
:)
I really hope they put this next gen on the assymbly line the power from a diesel can be a monster if done right.
I been eyeball'n some rides with snails but if this is a go I'll hold off a while.
My car is quick/slow depending on how you look at the glass of water and it's long over due that I bought a car that has get up and go.

I would totally jump on the ban wagon for a new turbo v6. Im sad that the 3g didn't offer a turbo. Practically took away from the eclipse name.

I bet if they did turbo the 3g there would be less bitching about it, alot of people think 3gs suck and have no potential but thye are good cars, run great!
