I just had my timing belt, spark plugs, ignition wire and oil changed today on my 2000 Mitsubishi mirage (1.8 L with 93,700 miles) and now I notice a rattling noise when I accelerate. Could this have anything to do with the repairs or is this a new problem? I'm planning a trip next weekend and I don't want to have any problems on the highway.

Thanks

Depending upon the cause of the rattle, it may or may not be serious. In your place I'd take it back where the work was done prior to any trip.
FWIW
YMMV

Thank's I plan to do that. I just wanted to have an idea of what the problem could be when I talk to the mechanic.

The rattle could actually be pinging from advanced timing or a loose bracket that was not retightened. A sound can't be accurately diagnosed off site.
