Hi All,

Hope someone can help me with this. A few months ago I was replacing the radio in my 1995 1.3 Colt and the "Room light" (the one in the roof which switches on when the door is open) and Clock stopped working.

I hadn't had the chance to do anything with the car since and recently I've been trying to put right some of the things which need fixing (I'm on holidays from work... :) )

Replaced the bulb in the roof light (which had blown) and then looked at the fuse box. It's rated for a 10A fuse but there was a 20A fuse in place. This was blown.

Engine off, no keys in the ignition I tried to replace the fuse with a 10A. This sparked and blew immediately. Same goes for a 20A fuse. I had just bought these from Halfords...

I don't know too much about electricals but seems like there's too high a voltage going to that particular fuse.

Anyone know what this could be? Thanks,

95colt

Check the under dash wiring for fraying. If the cigarette lighter is on the same circuit, you may want to inspect it for something stuck in it or a dead short in it.

Also, have you checked your ignition fuse? If it has the wrong amps going into it, it could also be affecting the fuse box inside the car. I know that all of those things are somehow related when it comes to the fuses b/c I had similar problems w/my rage. My "room light" wasnt working, and my clock only seemed to work when the doors were closed, etc. So, I changed the starter fuse/ignition fuse and all was well with my rage! So check that, I think that its 20 amps... cant remember right off hand, but that is somethingto look into! Good luck.
