QUOTE(smokingjo3 @ Jan 29 2008, 11:18 PM) hey, i just bought a 400watt sub and i was wondering if the 650watt amp will still work if i use that sub and the stock sub together, or will i have to get a new amp? Can't quite exactly remember my physics here, but I think it should work. Will it work well? Probably not very. You will end up splitting the power with the new sub hence you will dampen the amount of wattage you get into everything else including the new sub. Be careful also to make sure that you new sub can work "under powered". Speakers and subs will generally have a designated wattage range that the work properly within. For example your 400watt sub might work within at 100-400watt rage (pulling the numbers outta my arse). So for example if you don't deliver at least 100watts to the sub it might potentially cause damage. Find out for sure before you put it in, you also have to make sure that you don't under power your stock sub and speakers, that could also cause damage.

As explained in other threads.. usually the RMS will cut the max power in half... so you're looking at 350-400 watts tops RMS for an 8 channel amp. Divide that out, you probably wouldn't hear anything ;)/

U better off leaving that as an amp for speakers, and connecting a second amp for both subs.
