You can not get it professionally installed it is a liability to the shop that installs it incase you leave the car in gear.

So when you install it you have to remove the clutch safety.

What does a clutch override do, from the driver's point of view? Does it affect things like reverse lockout from 3rd/5th? On a topic in the first post, how important is that warm-up time? What would be the real-world difference between
a) not letting a turbo warm up and boosting almost as soon as you start up
B) just starting up and driving but not fast at first (no more than an n/a car would do, like everyday driving)
c) giving it 2-3 minutes to warm up before moving it
(phew, long sentence there)?
Do the timers which keep the engine running after turning the key to off (to give it the cool down time) affect the remote starters at all?

Ever seen intercooler piping blow out the front of a car before?

So after the $500 deductable and a new bumper... I'll never not let my turbo warm up again.... Stupid EVO. Stupid boost spike.

^^that answers A through C

D not labled D but the last question the answer is no.

a clutch override just makes it so you dont have to push the clutch in to start the car.

I bet you can find some places (like car audio shops and whatknot) that will do it. We have a place called big papas here in town which will do everything under the table if you want. (including k1 radar jammers for a grand :D )

You're supposed to let any car warm up atleast 2-3 minutes even if it's 100 degrees outside.

Yeah, these cold-arse illinois winters, even though the eclipse is in a garage, I start it up and back out right away. Even if it isn't parked outside. It's just too darn cold to go out there early to start it, and there's that extra sleep to consider :)

What about the b which turned into a face with the ) added, the question about driving but not under any appreciable boost? Is that really no better? And then, how important is the cool-down period? I can't imagine every single 'vette or Nissan turbo engine owner warms/cools their car and you don't hear about many problems in this area (random examples). I'm talking about the people who buy for image and know even less about their cars than I. Is it a problem of parts strength?

See, I'm trying to decide between VR4 and SL+Nitrous for my next car (or maybe turboing the eclipse) and I just have no experience with turbos and don't want to ruin the new/modded car right away.

I repeat, have you ever seen pipe blow through the front of a car before.

The cool down period is important because it allows the oil to cool before sitting next to the turbo all night. Hot oil will gunk up and ruin your turbos.

I'll look for a picture and post what I am talking about.

Not letting your car warm up is a problem as well. As stated above, or in most cases just the piping popping off at the throttle body(happened on a test drive... that was hard to explain) at the core.... had that happen to me in an intersection. Or blowing off at both the TB and core and shooting though the front bumper.... apparently From what the logger said, 71.3 psi for .08 of a second. If i can dig that log up I'll post it. That was also while at the track and apparently 450 HP hatchs need more then 25 minutes to warm up.

VR4 --> Awd ftw! I'd def go with the vr4. That is if you are ready to spend many hours working on it :P

Yeeaaaah. I'm about as mechanically inclined as a duck and not exactly rich. Should I just stay away from turbos and stick to more-powerful n/a's?

You should stay away from 3000GTs turbo DSMs and German vehicles.
