alright guys. ilike many of you with the nav package have noticed, once the car starts moving it is impossible to watch a movie. u can only hear the sound. we all know tha is for safety reasons, however there is people who put lcd's all over the car. my question is this.. ever since i got the car I notced an input jack on the botton of the screen, that u can only see when the screen folds down to put a cd in.

when i asked the dealer during the test drive, the guy told my that was the input to connect ur ipod. ( which is not true).

then someone who knew what was talking about in the dealer told me to never touch or connect anything into it, cuz its for updates or modifications to the system.

so based on that..do u guys know if it is possible to overwrite that safety feature that prevents the screen of showing movies wile the cars is rolling? or does one have to get a whole new system to have that feature? any feedback?!?!?

You have to find the video ground wire (black in colour) which "usually" attaches to a parking break relay. When the parking break is up, it completes the circuit thus allowing video feed on your monitor. When the parking break is down (driving), it breaks the circuit which is why you have no video; thus safety feature.

So.....You have to detach that ground wire from this relay and attach it to ground chassis (any metallic surface in your car), this will continously ground your video screen allowing for continous video feed. You may want to try and find the service manual so that you can locate this wire. I know they sell on e-bay for about 10 bucks. (most stereo installers can do this, hint hint)

goodluck

well so far ive been studying the wiring diagram for the mmcs system and it seems that it is control via a can system, which means even if you disconnect, ground or install a switch the screen will still go blank when the vehicle starts to go above 5mph, it is controls throught the right front speed sensor and it sends it message to the ecm, and then the signal gets sent to the mmcs system, i personally tried to remove the speed sensor input to the mmcs and again once the car started to move it disabled the picture, im looking into finding a company that will make the aftermarket plug in module to fake out the can system,
once i acquire the info ill update the forum

Yea i tried cuttin my wires and grounding them to make the car think that the E brake is up al the time, it didnt work the DVD and also the AV jacks imputs still went to the black screen also if you go above about 30 mph your car goes crazy and tells you to release emergency brake until you stop again and the error disapperas. it beeps like it would when it wants you to put your seat belt on and will not go away until u stop. So the whole gounding the wire thing dosent work. the Navi is hooked in to computer ehcih has a feature that tells the car when you are moving so basically it will be almost impossible to bypass this one. look like no DVD while driving

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the original question was can the code be hacked to get around the safety feature.

I'm sure some 14 year old PC gamer could probably come up with a hack in a day. Problem would be getting a copy of the code to hack. The jack at the botton seems to be for a disc of some type, not like any I've seen though so getting the original code and being able to make a modified copy may be two seperate problems.

It would sure be better (in my opinion) to get around the code than start cutting wires and inserting switches.

Any thoughts on this?

sorry about that 6ft, basically used all the words i didn't try in my search.

has anyone bought that item/gotten it to work?

edit:: reading his feedback, it looks like he wants you to cut wires, probably no different than someone has already suggested. in a few weeks, maybe i'll buy it and let you guys in on it.

But manybrews won't approve of that.

Here is your solution guys

I did the hack today and it works perfectly no wire cutting, no opening the HDD

Just insert the cd which you burnt and that's all...

http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/m_222824/mpage_5/tm.htm

http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/m_224329/mpage_3/key_/tm.htm

Apparently there are two builds, Just read the whole topic and all messages then find out which built is yours and that's it.

enjoy............

I asked that question and got an answer (shout outs to Biscuit)

He told me to...

Hold down the "Set" and "Navi" buttons for a few seconds and a screen will appear that lets you check the version.

Tried it and it works (VERIFIED), mine is the BLD-NR 261UM 1.09.
