Hi There!
This is the first time i have used this site and wanted to say hello and find out if any other carisma owners have had the same problems as me.
A few months back i found the revs on the car were dipping very low when idling and two weeks ago it started cutting out on me when i was slowing down either to stop or go round a corner, i booked it into a mitsubishi garage who told me that it was due carbon build up in the engine and it would need cleaned costing almost £500 they also found that the fuel injectors were knackered (thankfully still under warranty) the mechanic explained that this occurs due the design of the fuel injectors and how they are unable to clean themeselves causing the carbon to build up. I was also told there isnt any way of totally preventing it but i could slow down the process by using super unleaded petrol, getting oil changed to fully synthetic and using a fuel additive regularly to help clean it.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Hi,
just got car back from mitsibushi dealer and they say that engine needs carbon clean out, throttle mechanism also needs clean plus new injectors.
toal cost £2023.78.So have got rid of it back to brother in law and now back to my trusty Volvo 940 which just passed MOT today. As I was wanting the GDI i changed brake pads and also oil and filters plus gave car good look at but got beat with that light. Also got mitsi to replace drivers mirror and that plus readout cost £220.So all in over weekend i spent over £300 0n car but dare say thats cost of being too trusting, bye
