Under 1500 rpm my engine makes a ugly 'tracktor' noise. Over 1500 it's humming nice. I have no smoke , full power, normal fuel consumpion and easy starting....
It started some weeks ago and is getting slowly worse ....
It's a 1999 2.5 TDI L200.
It makes no difference when the engine is hot or cold. I was thinking that the valves need to be set, but when this is the case, i should have smoke and less power, no?
Any ideas?

PROBLEM FOUND!!!
A friend of me has adjusted the valves and it was slightly better, but not as it should be. So we looked a little closer...
A rubber 'silentblock' of the transfercase is broken. Below 1500 rpm the tranny trembles against the chassis...
