There are several ways to do it - but one correct way of actually doing it. First and foremost, the panels must come out of the car. Sanding, prepping, and cleaning with acetone is a must. I use flex agents, prime, and true PPG paint (not autozone aerosol) and paint the panels as if they were exterior body panels. A lot of time, wetsanding, pre/post prep work goes into each piece. However, when done correctly - it will look fantastic. Here's a photo of the interior on my promo car (panel done smooth and in Ultra Red Pearl) and another photo of panels from a 00-05 Eclipse leaving some texture on them to allow it to blend (Titanium Pearl). I do offer this as a service to those interested. Email sales@sc-customs.com for pricing. Center console and door stripes were done here: (IMG: http://www.sc-customs.com/storage/Bestofs/Interior1.jpg) Here are additional panels (smooth - but with visible OEM texture for blending) (IMG: http://www.sc-customs.com/storage/Protos/DSCN2962.JPG)

QUOTE(eo700 @ Jan 24 2008, 09:55 PM) i want to trim the inside of my car the panels white....what type of paint should i use or do i even paint them at all?.....oh and an off topic question where can i get a good price for a new tranny for ym 2000 eclipse gt? you have 3 options either doing it SC-CUSTOMS way where you use a spray gun with spray gun paint, which if you are particular towards your choice in color tones is the best way to go. he didn't mention anything for the paint he uses in reference to having a dying agent in it. so this way will definitely look the best, but not last as long as an auto interior paint/dye. now aerosol, or quarts of vinyl, plastic, fabric auto interior paint/dye. this way, however, takes a couple of weeks to fully cure. meaning you can't touch them, you can't move them, they have to remain in a safe spot away from dust, animals, bugs, children ect for at least 2-3 days. then they take a full 2 weeks sometimes even 3 weeks to cure unless you use a heating source to help evap the liquid additives(most likely raising the room temp over 100 degree's for about 2 hours will shave off a few days. doing it each day after the 2-3 day initial set time will help to cure it in about 6 days. i would wait about 4 days to use this curing technique just to make sure the dye reaches deep into the plastics. then heat it up each day 4 days in a row. once the pieces cure the color won't scratch off because it seeps into the materials dying it deep down. it will paint and dye the following: vinyl panels, plastic door handles, window handles, floor carpet, head liner, cloth fabric seats. i believe these dying system come with cleaning supplies and bleaching agents for proper preparation. this is the longest lasting way to color your interior, but is very limited on colors and color tones. if you use the quarts you can buy a electric hand held spray gun to apply it. or you can go the cheapest way possible and use spray can paint and just go nuts. i wouldn't recommend this because it cracks, peels, scratches and flakes off. i know because i bought a car that was done like this i didn't know until later that it was aerosol paint. i wanted to kill the guy who did it. even if you do choose this way to get a good enough coat on so that is doesn't immediately crack and flake off. you have to use about 5 coats per sq foot. so it ends up costing you about 40 bucks when the paint/dye system costs about $80. pay the extra and get good results it is the only way.
