I was just wondering if anyone else has felt a hesitation while accelerating in there car. It seems like it only happens on cold days and seems to stop once the car warms up.

lol maybe you should warm up the car just a bit longer?

other then that, in sub freezing conditions, your car is focused on its warm up sequence, it could be anything causing a slight penalty on performance.

how long would you say the wait is, after 5 minutes or 10 minutes it goes away?

happened to me all tha time after i hooked up my sri...it ended up being a leak in my intake..as well as it not being at full running temp. so if you have an aftermarket intake..or a custom one like mine check for leaks..filter on securely hoses hooked up right ect ect..and it should go away as mine did...but its always gonna do it a lil when your car is cold esp this time of year

Let the car warm up. Any car for that matter. You know on a cold day when the RPMs raise up to 1500? Yeh, thats a warm up sequence, wait for it to drop to around 1000 or 900 for you go, can take 2-4 minutes, but will save wear and tear on your engine.

Fortunately no. Anyway I dont expect it to happen, cause it happened on a 2001 montero sport, so all the time I had to warm him lots of minutes to prevent this.
Now, I do not expect at all that on a modern MIVEC engine.

i would disagree. Until we build an engine that uses absolutely no oil or coolant, anytime u drive a cold car u will notice a difference in performance.

Different oils have different viscosity, and each type has to get to a certain temperature to operate at its peak performance. Too cold or too hot of an oil wont do its job well. When ur car sits overnight, oil is collected in the crankcase, the colder it is, the longer it will take for the engine to suck the oil up into every little corner. Thats why the RPMs are high when its cold, its trying to do it as quickly as possible, and when u drive it while its still very cold, non-lubricated parts dont perform well, thus resulting in poor operation - in this case - acceleration. So be it MIVEC, VTEC, VVTEC or any other type of engine, you gotta at least let the oil go through the engine to drive it. We're talking merely couple of minutes.

I have never noticed anything or payed attention to it that much. If it's that little delay before accelerating, I used to thought that it was normal on all auto's. Every auto I have driven seems to have that same effect to me.

I have noticed the lag or hesitation on mine also. It does stop after the car has warmed up for about 3 to 5 minutes.
