i have a carisma mirage 1.6 which has done 170k miles 2002 with full service history. it hasn't been running well for a few weeks & eventually the engine management light came on. it started ok & was ok on tick over, but if you accelerated hard, it was like a rev limiter kicking in. i took it & had it diagnosed. the fault came back, suspect coil packs. i bought 2 from a company called IGNITION CAR PARTS £80 for the pair 3 year warranty, which i think is excellent. that has certainly cured that problem. it also feels flat when it is pulling, accelleration isn't as fast i think it should be. so i removed the throttle body & gave it a real good cleaning out with carb cleaner. it does feel better, but i am taking it out today for a good run so i will let you know how i get on. i also have a little clutch judder, but only when setting off in 1st gear. i will tackle that at a later date, when weather gets warmer.
