My problem would be getting to an icy lot safely.

yeah, its not to hard in montana, just hit up a grocery store after dark. only problem is you'd look pretty suspect if a cop drove by. our officer teacher said to tell any cop that pulled us over in the lot to tell them to call him. haha, never happened though.

It'd be easy enough to find a place in winter but I'd have trouble driving there. I've never actually driven on the snow/ice before.

Yeah, it's not that hard. If you have a manual, try to keep it in a rpm band with high tq, low hp.

If you are in an auto put it in low or drive 1 or 2

i drove my buick and my baretta all the time in the snow. maybe since i grew up on it, i took it a little harder than normal. i love going in the mountains with girls and finding a huge turn and "drifting" a full 180 around the turn, they freak.

you can drive in normal gear in an auto, and in a manual just don't floor it or take corners fast. and if you car peels out easy, its going to do it ten times easier on the snow. to picture driving on snow, imagine walking on it. the slower and smoother you walk the easier, once you try to run you fall, only catch is your car can't fall over, but it just looses control.

HUGE ONE!! braking just cuts out any traction you may have had left. steer straight to the center of the road and add gas smoothly. and especially don't brake and turn at the same time.

well, if your sliding your slowing down already. in FWD the acceleration is to try to pull your back end back behind you (in a straight slide you can smoothly press your breaks as long as your in control of the vehicle) once you get your back end behind you, you can proceed to stop. on pure ice you can stop just fine, you just can't slam on the breaks at any speed, and be sure you have plenty of room to do it.

again, you can read all day about it but until you actually experience it you'll never know. like boxing, read 100 books on it, take one punch to the face and you won't know what to do. so, i say get out there on the ice and drive man, not around other people or fences or telephone poles, but you need to practice.

so no worries then, but next time you get it just go driving. trust me, you'll get the hang of it, kinda like clutch, can't have somebody telling you how to do it, gotta do it yourself.

Haha, wouldn't quite know about that. My dad didn't explain the clutcth too well. On the test drive he told me to just let out the clutch and give it gas. I did, we stalled and he said to give it more gas. The next time I dropped the clutch from 5grand or so....That was fun
