When parking they turn opposite like the tractor so it turns tighter. at speeds over 35 I believe, they turn in the same direction as the front to aid in changing lanes. instead of turning into the lane you slide over. They only turn one or two degrees.

The speed is like 40 or 45. I drove a 92 vr4 and absolutely LOVED it beause of the awd, and aws. If you lose traction under 40, the wheels will turn the same direction so that the car will literally slide. Funniest feeling ever. You will be looking straight ahead, but the car will be driving to the left or right. PLus you can turn super tight :D

I was looking at an older prelude with 4ws before i bought my talon(s). Loads of fun to drive and park. It actually out handled the lambo diablo in lower speeds because of the 4ws.

The 4ws on the VR4 scared the *** out of me on an off ramp once.

Once again picture a chimp driving way to fast.

Then you can imagine what I felt like.

I can't believe I missed this thread.

Between the years of 1996-2003, I owned 3 different MR2's ranging from 91-94. One was NA, two others were Turbo. They are FANTASTIC vehicles. The 3SGTE is a VERY solid motor and will handle just about anything you can throw at it until about 350HP. Being Mid-Engine, the weight distribution is fantastic and you can get a real good bite in corners at the track. Engine bay is a bit tight, but you can use the rear trunk for additional space for meth, fuel, etc. and re-route piping if you really get into it.

On all 91-95 MR2's, beware of the coolant hoses near the turbo. The are VERY small, wrapped in a heatwrap - and have a tendancy to bust often (usually around 100k). On MR2oc.com, we refer to them as the "HFH - Hose from Hell".

Now, model differences:

91-93 were MASS produced, they are a dime a dozen. Those years do not have a passenger restraint system. 91-92 came with 14" wheels and 93+ came with 15" wheels and a slightly different front lip and sideskirts.

1991 - Does not have a LSD.
1992 - LSD was an upgraded option available
1993+ - LSD became standard on all models

1994-1995 are much harder to come by and much more valuable. Less than 1,000 1995 Turbo's were actually imported in the US as it was the final year for the MR2 MKII. 1994-1995 have the passenger restraint system added, different OEM taillights (which are a VERY popular upgrade for all 91-93 owners), and a different spoiler.

1991-1995 models came with a CT-26 Turbo, which is good up until about 15lbs of boost before it runs out of breath. You will need to disable Fuel Cut which is around 8psi using a FCD. The OEM intercooler is absolutely horrible and should be one of the first upgrades before you turn up boost. Greddy is very popular and mounts in the OEM location using the same fan shroud, or Spearco is another route - which is a top mount.

That's about all I can think of other than going into the brake differences, etc. But - if you need more advice, let me know. :)
