First and foremost, I'm new to this forum and it's my first post. I've been reading around for quite some time and it looks like an awesome place for info provided by some real experts.
Now for my question... I'm interested in hooking up an iPod (I'm sure this is no shock to anybody) and from what I've read about the two easiest ways for myself are either a wired FM Transmitter OR changing the CD changer port to RCA jacks. I was wondering which has better sound and which is the preferred method by members?
Finally, I have a 2001 Eclipse GT w/ 4 Disc Infinity CD Changer + Cassette Deck. I know the first option is possible, since its universal. However, I was wondering if the second option is even feasible, since my car already has a CD Changer built in... I don't know if there's even a CD Changer jack in the back (I don't have easy access to check). I was hoping maybe somebody would know from personal experience or somehow I could find out rather that rip the CD player out. Also, if the second method is possible, would any CD Changer to RCA converter work or would I need a model specific part?
Any input/advice is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Brandon

If you choose to install an aftermarket head unit, you don't have to bypass the factory amp. There is a harness that allows you to use an aftermarket stereo with the factory Infinity amp. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=265-846or http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=434I'm sure you can get this adapter elsewhere, but this gives you an idea of what you'll need. Also, make sure to buy a stereo with three pre-outs (front, rear, and sub). You don't have to use the sub pre-out, but if you choose to install subwoofers later, you'll simply need an amp and subs. Hope that helps.
