I need to replace the rear disc pads on my carisma 1.8 GDI year is there any procedures I need to do or can you just push the caliper piston back in when you have put the pads in?

I need to change the pads on my GDI also, but I can't find out which size I need. Do you know what size pads are needed? I believe my car would use the same size as yours. I also need front pads if you happen to know that too!

thanks .. and sorry I don't know if any special procedures are needed for fitting, I'm hoping it's going to be straightforward so please post back if you find different!

Hi depends on what year Gdi and size discs you have. On the rear if you have discs you need to use a piston wind back tool which you can purchase at a good auto shop. As I said the front discs depend on size. My Carisma is year 2000 with 280mm discs so they will only take corresponding pads. Measure the diameter of your discs and year of manufacture etc. and the auto shop should give the right pads.

There are three sizes of disc for front! 256mm,236mm and 280mm. I "think" from the facelift on they only have 280mm.Pre facelift only the gdi has 256,while the tdi and 1.6 can have either. All the rears are the same except where drums. The 256 size discs are the same as from a galant of 91-96 production.and the 236 same as colt, lancer of 91-97.
