Okay I am working on a 1999 Galant with a 2.4l. The intake has cracked around the throttle body opening and it is backfiring through the intake. I checked out the timming belt and it is intact. Also I checked to see if the marks line up. I put it up at top dead center on the compression stroke and the marks line up. Am I checking this correctly? Any other Ideas why my intake cracked and why my car won't run? Any help greatly appreciated.

Okay, I figured it out. The intake must have cracked first, obviously making it run very lean. Then it started backfiring. I guess the backfiring didn't blow up the intake. Anyhow I got it all figured out now. I just kinda temporarily patched up the crack around the throttle body and it fired right up. So now to find an inexepensive intake manifold. Anyone have any ideas on this. Maybe a good online parts dealer? Maybe have one at home? Thanks!
