Hi guys,

I'm not sure if the transmission on my van is on the way out but I think I have a problem.

I know when the engine is cold the overdrive function does not work, for the life of me I don't know why, but the engine revs at 4000 RPM at 60 KMH until it gets warm. Now to me that is damaging the engine.

The other symptom is that as it gets warm the overdrive seems to cut in and out even with the switch off and it seems to continue for about twenty minutes or more. It's as if it's dropping down a gear and shifting back up.

I've read a similar post and I did think I may have a faulty sensor or switch.

Any comments?

Mine holds for a lot longer than a few minutes, probably between 10-20.

Where would I find the adjustment?

so the engine takes 10 or 20 to warm up?
oil could be low and will expand as it heats up
which is why the dip stick has hot and cold marking for the trans
