Sup guys well my eclipse isn't starting or even trying to turn over. I was bringing a friend home going about 40 when I lost all power to the wheel but the car was still running. I said OMG and hit the gas it revved but didn't move so I cut it off till I got back home tried to strt it and it makes a weird noise and the timing belt does not rotate when I try to crank it. It just sounds like its turning freely or sum a guy told me it could be my flywheel but idk hope it ain't my trans but I think not cause the fluid are where there suppose to be and it would still crank up if it was just the trans rite? If anybody can help it would be appreciated thanx. :liebe011:

So if a starter goes bad while your driving the car would that cause it to suddenly loose power at the wheel while the car is still running? Cause if its just my starter that shouldn't be to big of a problem. :)

i had my timing belt tensioner and idler pulleys blow up on me, but my car would try to turn over normally. I was doing about 60 and all of a sudden the car was running (badly and not for very long) with no power. the timing belt wouldnt turn while cranking the engine (which i dont recommend because its an interference engine).

I dont think its your starter. while your car is running your starter doesnt do anything. unless you have a manual (i didnt see you say that you had one) your flywheel shouldnt be the issue either. if you do and your clutch blew up it should move a little but not much and not very fast.

If you lost power to the steering wheel while the engine was running then there would have to be a problem with your ps pump or something related.

check to see if your timing belt has any tension. if it does then im sorry i dont know what your problem could be unless your timing belt skipped a tooth or more. if it doesnt have any tension thats your problem.

No I don't have manual, my power steering pump works, Don't have tension in timing belt and when I say I lost power/pull it was like my trans went out at once every gear was neutral(all it did was rev didn't matter if I was in D,R,1, or 2) but that can't be it cause if the trans died it should still start...

if your tranny is bad, you'd still have wheel power and it would still start. it couldn't be electronic could it? i can't see what would make the wheel and starter not work? and aren't you supposed to have tension in the belt?

Its not the timing belt cause the car was still running when it broke if it was anything with the timing belt it would a should a stall out which it didn't I cut it off after it wouldn't go anywhere and a weird noise started getting loud under the hood. And my brother had a Buick and the tranny went bad but it still drove till each gear just grinded away. Idk its weird to explain guys it was like a drive shaft falling from under a truck it'll rev but it won't go anywhere but now my car won't strt. Sounds like a drill or a blender on low when im trying to crank it like its turning freely...

might be your tranny if the engine turns but the car dont go then that might be your problem.when the timing belt brakes it just cranks but the egine does not turn on period.that or a linkage of some sort that might not be engaging.

well what i think happened with my car was one pulley blew up (probably the idler first) and the car still ran but badly (like it was missing) and the CEL came on. on my way to have the code(s) checked out (now i have a code reader here at the house) i think the tensioner pulley gave out and that was the end of it running.

Maybe your timing belt slipped.... Just happened to me the other night, bent a few push rods.... I had no power at the wheels or anything when i was driving home with it, but does it sound like you can hear your pistons hitting the valves or something like that?

Before I turned it off it sound strange don't know if it was a piston or valves...but now it won't start so I can't even get a clue of what happen. And my timing belt is still there looks just like its always looked.

Autozone will read your codes for free and then print out a sheet saying what each code corresponds with and the possible fixes.
