Hi, I live in South Australia and have owned my 1984 L300 4x4 for around 5 years.

I am in the process of striping and restoring it, and have been toying with the idea of finding a compatible Diesel engine to fit in place of my current 2L petrol. My Question to anyone on the list is, ......... ‘‘Is there a Diesel engine from a later L300, or Pajero, that will fit onto my gearbox and bell housing without any major modification ?''

I am also trying to find info or parts to install the rear aircond system that would have been factory fitted and is shown in the owner’s handbook. This system so far has not been found by me in any local parts wrecker’s stores.

I have also heard about a ''hi lift kit'' for the body, but on calling most of the big 4x4 dealers, I am told nothing is available, or listed. I am now thinking that it could just be something that is made at home with some box section steel spacers between the body and chassis mounts, .......... only leaves me one question, ''what about the steering column/steering box extention/conection.

My aim is to fit the hi roof ''electric roof'' on it and make it into a great 4x4 fishing/camping vehicle.

Thanks for reading this, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
