is not that suppose to be covered by the waranty?

unles it was scratched, but if it is peeling by itself, take it to your dealer.

It's probably because of debris flying up and chipping the paint.

um.. or dont ruin ur paint even more and either
1) buy the paint from website i provided
2) dealer
3) body shop

and right after that, buy the clear bra protectant and slap it on hood and bumper to prevent this from happening.. all in all, u would spend at most $200 now, rather than thousands later.

Covering such a beautiful front end doesn't make sense, like a stripper working in a berka.

I think the fact of the matter is that our Lancers have very poor paint as it is.
I drove mine to Calgary this weekend (highway 2 south out of Edmonton - about 250km).
Our snow has been melting rapidly, there is lots of small rocks on the roads and highways.
Anyway, when I got back and washed the car I noticed SO many rock chips on the hood. It's ridicules.
I drove a 10 years old Plymouth Breeze and I drove that thing up and down an all around Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan and it barely had chips on it...
Also every time I go to wash the car I can notice little bits of rust on some portions.
I'm not very pleased with the paint at all.

And no I didn't get a protective coating on it (the Breeze didn't have one either), but for the regular paint to chip this easy and already show rust is a bit extreme, don't you think?

Well, for you information.. Not only new lancers are getting these paint problems :( Mazda 3 and Civics are as well. That's because of a new "ecologic" law that makes the dealers to use paints being more "biological", so, less durable.. That is as sad as this :(

Had a Mazda 3 before I bought my Lancer. The paint on the Mazda would scratch if you looked at it funny. Kit Scratch remover would actually remove the paint! I don't know how they could even call it paint job. Between the lousy paint and the carpet made of cardboard and cat hairballs I got disgusted with it and sold it.

I have 3500 miles on my Lancer and the streets and highways here are allways covered in debris and I've heard some hits but I don't have a chip in the paint yet (knock on wood). Maybe the Tarmac Black paint is harder than other colors.

The only mark on my car is a scuff mark on the rear deck that the detailer at the dealership did (and paid dearly for). ;)

Hey everyone! First post here. I am also having some paint chipping problems. I have an 08 Lancer GTS in Tarmac Black Pearl and the paint is chipping at the front lower part of the rear wheel well opening and the rearmost edge of the back doors. Its getting pretty severe. I have not received any satisfactory answers from Mitsubishi. Any suggestions?

That's a wierd place for chipping...unless you're driving backwards down gravel roads at 40+ mph with the rear doors ajar.

Seriously, it sounds like you have a paint cohesion problem. I would definately be down at the dealership on a regular basis giving them hell and writing Mitsubishi as well.
