hi there, did the A A plug in a pc to the interogate the engine managment system ? or was it a best guess as to the problem. there are fault codes generated when there is a problem, this helps to pin down the problem. cant help with the sensor problem . never cleaned any, if they go out of calibration , they will need to be changed/replaced. the throttle body's are known to be a problem due to carbon build up in the body or in the induction manifold. fault / error codes generated may point you in the right direction on this if the car wont start it could be anything, do you have a friend or mate with some basic knowledge of car mechanics who can check the fuel filter . etc etc.

trust this helps without going into great detail,

touch wood my motor is running very well at the moment, the car with the gdi is a good drive once the little niggles have been sorted out. but every car i have owned including company cars, have had some sort of strange problems during there life . i must say fords have been the best of all, allways got me home.

now i am tempting trouble !!! good luck...

thanks for your reply. the aa came out and did an electronic diagnosis and pointed out either the cam sensor or throttle body sensor. would this be the exact cause you think or like you said carbon buildup? surely the test would be accurate enough, the car as also done 81000miles.
