my buddy just got a mini cooper base trim. 179HP on a 2600lb car. i'm at an assumed 220 (mbc, intake, plugs and wires) running about 13psi. how would this race turn out? i figure it this way 2600/179=14.5 pounds per HP and me
3000/220=13.6 lbs per HP. and i'd also say i've done a bit more driving then him. outcome anyone?

edit: and i'm probably a little under that as i have removed spare tire/jack/back seats ( i know rookie move, but who cares, its about 60-80 lbs) and in a close race that could mean the world.

ummmm..... he does not have a 179hp base. The older Cooper S made 168hp with a supercharger, and the turbo makes 172hp.

The base model only makes 115, so if you lose, you need to be shot, about 50 times, in your legs. So that you may never drive again.

Yeah, but you aren't understanding.

They ran that in the new cooper S.

Mike said that the guy has a base model, as in NOT S.

Therefore that thing cannot have 170hp, it has 115hp.

Meaning that there is no way in hell it will run a 15.1. It might, MIGHT, run a 16 if it is lucky.

No I understand... Im just not being clear. I gave stats for the new S.

And then...

Im not having faith in Mike....hahah just fooling.

Wheres the exhaust come out. Side its a base and you win, center and its up for grabs.

no, he's got the S. he told me he had base trim and then he said he's got the turbo. bad info. and 172 is the correct HP. the only edge i'd say he has on me is the engineering of his car, and i'm assuming he'll get a lot better grip than me to. i think that i'll get it. but it may never happen. he's kind of a softy. (yet he's owned a mustang gt, audi s4, and now a mini S)

Are you sure he is pushing 220 @ 13 psi?

well, i was at 210 at 9PSI, (stock) and got an intake some NGK spark plugs and wires a greddy BOV and an MBC and adjusted down to 12 now. i don't see why i wouldn't be at least 220.

2g gst and gsx's SHOULD run about 13 psi stock, and that produces about 210 to the wheels.

my dad just bought an 03 mini S and of course being guys we want to race and see what happens. he just installed a 3 in. catback exhaust and CAI. i'm running injen SRI, Apexi N-1 full (downpipe, midpipe..no cat, all the way back) 1g bov, magnecor wires, ngk iridium plugs, 17" racing wheels wrapped in Fusion HRi, carbon fiber shift knob (that's like +2hp right there lol). it should be a good matchup. i'll post the results after it happens.

Had a chance to run with my dad's mini yesterday but didn't get to run from a stop. We turned onto the entrance ramp for the highway, i was in front, we both hit it at the same time from about 25mph (i was in second) so it took a second for the turbo to kit in but once it did i pulled him pretty easily all the way to 80mph. we did another roll on from 50 to around 85, i started in 3rd and again i pulled away easily. hopefully we'll get a chance to go again from a standing start. he should get me at the start but once my turbo kicks in it's all over....until he puts the upgraded pulley for his supercharger in...then we'll do it all again!

yeah, i figured stock they would be a decent race. but i'm boosting at least 16, sometimes up to 17. and that makes it not a race at all.

yup, and before anyone else tells me its not possible. do some research on a stock T25 with a removed boost restricter and heavily modifed exhaust. its spiked up to 19 on someone before. i have only seen 17, but i've seen it and had others with me to watch just to make sure.

but i run pretty average at about 16.

I believe a 17psi spike, but not a 19. T25 maxes out consistently @ 16psi.
