Update: still green after many hours and the driver side ballast will flicker for a bit then "pop" back to full brightness.. this is in -5C to +2C temperature. The passenger side one (with the greener bulb (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ) does not do this.

I'm really getting irritated by the quality of these ballasts from mobilehid. In perfect weather they work fine. As soon as it starts to get a bit nippy, even though they're temperature rated for lower than it gets here, they fail.

The only thing I can possibly fathom is that either a) it's not temperature rated for anything below balmy, or (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) there's electrical interference somehow. It's not by anything producing strong EMI that I can find.

IDK if its already on this forum but a very easy plug and play DRL fix has been created by a member on 9glancers.com Search funkybeats or funkybeatsDRL and you will find it. Its a little harness that connects to the battery then plugs into your driver side headlight and both ballasts for the HIDs. 5mins to install and no more DRL. The light switch functions like a vehicle w/out DRLs (off/park/headlights).

Hope this helps

I went to Pacific Mall and a guy who works there said he has a friend who has an 08 Lancer who just did Plug and Play with his HIDs and he just no longer has DRLs anymore.

When I get my car back (it's in the shop right now), I'm going to get one of the HID kits they sell, and see if that's true.
The good thing is, even if it isn't, I have a friend who can install HIDs because he's really good with cars and wiring and stuff so he said he can make it work if there are issues.

I'll keep you guys updated.

I can now confirm:
If you get Digital Slim Ballasts, you will automatically bypass DRLs!
The brand I got was from "Bright Star."

To bring up an old stickied thread, has anybody successfully used method 3 with an Evo X?

I haven't tried it on an Evo X, but I'm pretty sure it should work as long as it's the non-HID headlights (no projectors). The X's with the projector headlights can just pull the DRL fuse to eliminate them.

thanks for this awesome write up!!

tried option 3 and I now can safely turn my HID's off!

Excellent and not hard at all and best of all, only costs around 6 bucks if you have a spare 9006 cable!

Does anyone have a pic of the completed product? I am assuming I will need to make one for each side? Does the harness get placed before the ballast and bulb? Sorry for the many questions. I have a Xentec kit that did not come with a relay. They power up just fine but start to flicker with the DRLs. I apologize if these questions have been answered previously. New to Website.
