I've had my baby for about 2 years now and its time to change the fostgate system. It sounds fantastic but I need alittle more show. Are there any videos or tutuorial on where I see how to remove the old and install the new?! Looking forward to the weekend so I can play in my baby!!
Thanks and this bud is for you.

its not really hard but you will have to buy a new dash piece and you can get it from crutchfield for around 20 bucks. after that everything should be pretty simple if your just doing a new head unit. if your doing a dvd player or something id say have it done by some one thats what im going to do.

I just read another post and it said that an aftermark unit wont play the front speakers or sub?!! Is this true? If so what do I need to do to get them to play or is this a rumor? WTF is that about?

it probably depends on the unit. you would have to get a unit that has enough channels to cover all the speakers. if you buy a typical head unit with 2 channels (front and rear) you wont get your tweeters or your sub. if you get one with 4 or more channels and then you can hook up your tweeters to one and your sub to another. to get the true spectrum of your sub though you will probably need an aftermarket amp though.

its the fact the amp thats in your car runs the speakers and the sub. and when you install any aftermarket head unit its not in that one plug you are using. what you have to do is rewire your speakers and sub and get a new amp in order for everythng to work correctly.

WHAT?!! What is the purpose of having a wiring harness if the speakers dont work with it? It has 4 seperate wires for each speaker so what gives? Where is the wire for the sub if that is the case? Something that sounded so simple and I've done many times, why is it so difficult now?!!

well when you pull out your stock head unit you will see 2 plugs in the back of it. if you get the wire harnest it only uses one of them. so i think it has something to do with the other one thats not being used, but no one has been able to test this.

First of all thanks Slacker for the responses, this buds for you. Is there a wiring diagram to show what the other wires are or what do I need to do now. I dont want to add a amp quite yet, don't feel like running all wires under the carpet. This is the first time I've heard the wiring harness doesn't work the other speakers and I'm alittle **** RIGHT NOW!!

i had a diagram of the wires but i lost it. i am as convinced as you are there has to be a way but i have tried and im going to give in. i have a new head unit that im going to go have some one install it and maybe even buy a small amp to run the sub.

what i have figured out

the other plug holds the key to the ECoM message on the display as well as the sub and the speakers you cant use. when i go to have my unit installed ill see if they can provide me any info. if i get that i can try to let you know. also if you want more info on your car check out this forum www.club4geclipse.com/forum.html thats another good forum to go to for help on the car. thats usually where i post more of my ideas and comments as well.
