Hi All,

I have a 93 3lt Verada. It has a bad stalling problem.

1. It will start then stall if i don't keep my foot on the accelartor. After it warms up it wil idle but will me temperamental. Changing from D to R upsets it. Also when I come to a stop after braking hard it will stall.

2. The idle surges sometimes too. More so when the AC is on. I can hear what sounds like a relay clicking in the engine bay.

I have found myself having to drive eith two feet to keep it going (dangerous and embarrasing)

I though it maybe a vacuum leak but have not found one. THe idle problem I though maybe the idle speed control motor ?

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

you are correct

The idle problem IS the idle speed control motor ?

it is a stepper motor and should have 3 screws near the throttle body
(dont have a picture )

and the other thing to change is the ecu
behind the passengerside kick pannel wall( a metal box )

get them from a wrecker

genuine is expensive

the TPS should be ok

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. I'm going to try getting a new idle control motor on the weekend.

Do you think its worth changing the ECU as well or should I wait and see if the control motor fixes the problem first.

Got the control motor yesterday and installed it this afternoon. Took about ten minutes. It sorted the problem out. The idle is perfect. I don't have to use both feet to drive now. It's like a different car.

It cost $120- (actually has 2 bolt holes) It looks like the design of the part has changed a little from the original.

Anyway, Thanks again

Cheers

Rex
