QUOTE(pinsent @ May 9 2008, 10:39 PM) are people in canada having the same issue? since the cars seem to be a little different i will ask my dealer about this though cause they mentioned something about another small warranty for tire and paint. i guess it will be will worth it if it happens here as well. (about 400-500 i think$$) I would like to think minus a few subtle differences that our Lancers in Canada are the same as the Lancers in the U.S. Yes, if you read the thread and others in more detail, you will see that many Canadians have the paint chipping issue. The paint/corrosion warranty is usually ineffective for this defect.

I have my Lancer GTS 2009 for one week now, and after reading this thread I decided to take some actions - thanks to this thread. 1- 3M Protective film applied to: hood 12", roof 8", rear door bottom... see attached pictures. 2- Car Brite paint sealant applied to the whole car. This is professionnal paint sealant. This was a 4 hours job, overall! I did it myself, and I know it is applied *everywhere*. I will mostlikely re-apply again during the summer. Also, I will probably apply more 3M protective film to the bumper next week (before the bumper ships). Take a note that the paint sealant goes white when drying, and will highlight the 3M protective film border. I used a toothbrush to remove the sealant from the 3M protective film layer... toothbrushing my car was a bit strange... I did it when my neighborhood was at work ;))) I think this the best we can do. Maybe not... if I had more money, I would have gone to a paint shop to apply a good "clear" over the whole car. Regarding paint quality, the problem is not only Mitsubishi. A friend of mine have a Mazda 3... the car ships very easily and he claims that this is the worst car he ever owned. I think companies save money on features that are not a direct plus value at purchase time. A very good paint job takes more time, and certainly costs more to make, and will not make you decide to buy this or that car. You will decide based on the style, sound system, Horse Power, etc.... they know that. They are more and more sophisticated regarding marketing. So I've added some pictures to inspire you doing the same, maybe, if you think this is a good idea. I used the "Add Attachement" feature for the first time.. hope this will work... That's what I am planning to do with my car.

QUOTE(beyonddc @ Jul 8 2008, 08:39 PM) okay, my car was at the shop all day to get windows tinted and applied protection film on it. The tinting went well, but the protection film..... Look at the last 2 pictures and you'll see there's like 2 little dents on the protection film. I didn't spot it when I left the shop until I got home. I called the installer and told him that I'll send him pictures and call him again tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. Also, I noticed that on a particular part, there's still water underneath the protection film. Just a tiny little bit of water. Is that normal? Will it dry out eventually? So I spoke with the installer today and he's pretty convinced that just let it seat for couple days and that mark will shrink/disappear. Also, he said the water that's sitting underneath the protection film is actually alcohol and will eventually dry out also. If that doesn't go away in a week, he'll take care of it for me. I guess I'll just let my car seat in the driveway for awhile and see what happen after a week.

I can't blame them though... bubbles usually occur in hard places like corners and any angled area. Let it sit for a week, then go back to the installer and let them know what's up.
