Hi,

I bought my 2008 Lancer GTS with Sun&Sound Package, so I didn't have the Navigation. I purchased the Navigation System (MMCS) last week and had it installed at my dealer. I works great and I really like it so far.

There is just one thing about it that is bothering me a little. When I turn on the ignition and the MMCS turns on, it makes a very high frequency sound. You can only hear it when it is quiet. For example when you are parked, no music, etc. It is a constant sound which is there when the unit is on. It can be heard better if you turn the ignition on when parked without starting the engine. I'm just wondering if it is normal and everybody has it, or it's a problem with my unit.

I'm pretty sure it's normal but just wanted to make sure. Waiting for your replies. Thanks.

Also.

When nothing is connected to the Aux input and you select the Aux mode from the MMCS, some sounds come from the speakers especially if the volume is at 20 or higher.

I was just wondering if this is normal. Do everybody have it or should it be completely quiet when nothing is connected?

Perfectly normal. It's just interference from the air. Nothing to worry about :57:

I merged these 2 topics together because they are too similar and posted by same user.
nmkavadarli seems like you have a lot of questions about your MMCS - in future, please open 1 thread for similar questions about same component. Thanks.

I've got the Nav unit and I can hear it just like you describe it. I think it's safe to say that whirring sound is either the hard drive spinning up, a cooling fan for the processor or both. Either way, totally normal.
