i just bought the 09 gts w/ cvt transmission. Came on here today to find out whether or not using 91 or 93 octane over the typical 87 will significantly increase my cars performance and/or mileage. I get a 150 gallon gas card from my work every month so its not like theres a cost issue to worry about. I'm mainly just worried about the short term and long term effects, you know like if its better or worse to run a higher octane.

thanks man i just did some research on the web to. from what most sites are saying it doesnt do much except help improve the lifetime of some of your engine internals. thats all good and what not but i dont expect to have this free gas forever so in the long run i think the higher priced gas would cost more then just repairing/replacing some of those worn down engine internals. just my 2 cents :)

QUOTE(master.axu @ Mar 22 2008, 02:40 PM) - stay away from 10% ethanol gasoline (otherwise you get 10% less power and 10% less mpg)
Not exactly true. Yes, ethanol does contain less energy than gasoline, but running E85 will only decrease mileage by 20-30%. A 10% Ethanol blend (which is about all they sell around here) would at most drop you 2-3% and you wouldn't see any power loss. from http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/flextech.shtmlQUOTE FFVs experience no loss in performance when operating on E85. However, since a gallon of ethanol contains less energy than a gallon of gasoline, FFVs typically get about 20-30% fewer miles per gallon when fueled with E85.

I'm really looking for your spark plug test. I drive like it's 1974 every day. After installing a SPEED air filter I can get 34 MPG average. That's 29 TO work and 38 FROM work. The Lancer loves to rev it up, but it's an impulse I can resist. As for the boredom: that's what the sound system is for. And it sounds better when not going over 3000 rpm. Joe

QUOTE(Mitsu_Fizzle @ May 22 2008, 07:46 PM) Anyone who has a GReddy Ti-C Exhaust... Have you noticed better gas mileage?
I haven't done any MPG research w/ my car, but...
It seems that my tank lasts longer since I've installed it.
:haha:
I have the Ti-C exhaust and an Injen CAI and I am getting about 32 - 34 miles per gallon. Those figures are done by hand, not the cars computer.
